Where has this year gone? That was the first thing that entered my Mind when I agreed to take part in this blog hop. I mean I don’t know about you but it feels like we were just saying Happy New Year and here it is time to eat Turkey and count our blessing and give thanks. I’m starting to feel like George Jettson “Jane stop this crazy thing!” Anyway it is time to reflect again on all the things we have to be thankful for so I thought I’d just run down a few of the things I personally will be Thanking God for as I over eat, watch some holiday specials, and sleep before I do it all again on Thanksgiving Day. So here we go Things I’m thankful for this year.
1. Just still being here. Those that are my family, friends and Fans will remember that this year started with a major MG flare up followed by a stroke. I was lucky and blessed to be still here on this planet. On top of that I had some complications from the stroke that made it look for a few months like I wasn’t going to be able to write anymore but God. (DON’T YOU JUST LOVE THOSE TWO LITTLE WORDS “BUT GOD”) brought me through all that and healed me enough to get back to what I love doing.
2. The Hard times. Without them I wouldn’t get to see what God can do. This year I was sick a lot, the wife was depressed from not finding work. Our house had massive problems and in the end was going to be sold for back taxes. Now at the end of the year I’m mostly healthy, the wife is working a job she enjoys, We moved into an apartment that is perfect for us and all my kids got their own places to live. Oh and the tax man didn’t get our house we sold it to a flipper.
3. My family. I’m blessed to have not one, not two, but three groups of people who I call my family. Those who are related by birth or marriage, The wife , my kids, my grandsons, Mom and the in-laws, My sister and her family those are my first family and I’m thankful for each and every one of them. My second family is my Church Family at West Charleston Baptist Church. They have been with me through everything this year. Lifting me up in prayer supporting me in my work for God. Each and every one of them are like family to me as well. Finally my Third Family and that is my Christian Indie Authors Network family. they have helped me and supported me and prayed for me and cried with me and rejoiced with me and allowed me to be a part of helping others become the writers God is calling them to be.
4. Our Country. Yes I know it isn’t perfect and there are lots of things not to like but it is still the best country in the world to live in as far as I’m concerned. I have the freedom to write, to worship as I please and that is worth being thankful for.
I could probably spend all day just talking about the things I’m thankful for but most of all I’m thankful for a God who cares about me and everyone I know. Oh and in four days as Turkey Day rolls around again I’ll be thankful for all the wonderful smells and tastes of that one day of the year its alright to unbutton your pants and eat till your stomach is as tight as a drum head. OH BETTER MAKE SURE I’VE GOT SOME TUMS AROUND.
So tell me what are you thankful for? Oh and for more holiday thanks check out the rest of the people in this blog hop. http://www.booklybooks.com/christian-indie-authors-thanksgiving-hop/
